A main objective of the European Union is to obtain healthy workplaces on a physical and mental level. This important goal is also stated in the current Austrian law. Since 2013, the amendment of the national employee protection law (ASchG) demands an assessment of mental workload at the workplace (AMW). On the other hand, occupational health projects (OHP) also aim to improve the health – and especially the individual competences – of employees to create a health-promoting working environment. The combination of AMW and occupational health projects is regarded as difficult or even impossible, as both legal requirements for AMW (as stated in the ASchG) and the aspect of enhancing individual competences for OHP have to be considered. The first part of the workshop demonstrates scientific principles for AMW and OHP; then possible concepts, procedures and instruments are discussed. In the second part, on basis of practical examples different concepts are prepared and evaluated together with the workshop participants and possible solutions for practical use are developed.
